External-Top Handled Teapot No. 001
Cone 10 Stoneware
This is the first one I’ve made using clay anchor points to hold a brass over-handle. I really think I nailed it (on a small scale) on the first try with this one. The handle’s mounted right into two clay loops — one near the spout and one behind the lid. The lid’s a shallow dish shape with the knob set inside, saving space and making it easier to grab without hitting the handle.
I overlapped a traditional red and blue glaze with another red, and where it all stacked, it turned yellow — right up front near the brass handle and on top of the spout, and wrapped around parts of the body too.
Next time I’ll take more care when bending the brass handle to the pot and use extra towels or foam around the pliers.
